If the Dallas Cowboys are going to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles for the NFC East crown on Sunday, it looks like they’ll have to do it without starting quarterback Tony Romo.
Citing a league source, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter has reported that Romo has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with the back injury suffered in the Week 16 victory over the Redskins in Washington. Romo finished that game, of course, and neither he nor Jerry Jones sounded like they thought it was all that serious of an issue.
Romo underwent an MRI earlier on Monday.
If his season is indeed done, Romo finishes 2013 with a 64 percent completion percentage, 3,828 yards passing, 31 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. His passer rating on the year was 96.7.
The Eagles play the Cowboy on “Sunday Night Football” on NBC.
